Energy Efficiency App

Client: Internal project – DNV GL Executive staff

Role: UX Research Lead and Workshop Facilitator

Research: I was part of  a small team tasked with envisioning a new product to encourage energy saving behaviors for small businesses. Based on our initial research, we conceptualized an interactive app that

  • Offers practical and low-cost suggestions for energy savings
  • Provides tailored recommendations, reminders, and reinforcement
  • Constructs motivating social community though ability to earn redeemable points, compare and share success with others

I led the User Research component of this project, including

  • Developed user stories
  • In depth interviews with market experts
  • Potential-user surveys
  • Facilitated focus groups with potential users, and shared quantitative and qualitative findings with executive team

Outcome: This project helped define the internal strategy for our department. I presented our findings at the 2015 Behavior Energy and Climate Change Conference, see below for a summary of research.
